Bacterial Genomics and Plant Pathogen Interactions
Group Leader: Dr Lucy Moleleki
Research
Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. brasiliences (Pcb) is an important emerging pathogen of potatoes in South Africa resulting in considerable reduction of yield. In our group we aim to
study the pathogenesis and interactions of this pathogen with its host potato. These are some of the projects:
1) Evaluating strain variability and virulence
2) Pcb transcriptome profiling in planta
3) Characterisation of the T6SS
4) T3SS effectors
