THE ROYAL SOCIETY VISITS FABI AT THE UNIVERSITY OF PRETORIA

On Monday May 26 2008 Prof Karl Kunert, one of the recipients of the prestigious Royal Society grant,  hosted a visit by members of the UK Royal Society to FABI.  The Royal Society’s UK Foreign Secretary, Prof Lorna Casselton FRS, presented the Rutherford Memorial lecture entitled “Fungal mating pathways: insights into cell signalling and genome evolution”.  Dr Hans Hagen, senior manager/international grants, also gave a short presentation on the Royal Society’s UK international funding portfolio.

This meeting was attended and thoroughly enjoyed by many FABIANS as well as other members of staff and students at the University of Pretoria. FABI showed its appreciation by inviting all attendees to enjoy refreshments in FABI Square at the conclusion of a very successful and interesting meeting.
