Quentin Guignard, a PhD student in FABI, attended a camp for new Honours students organised by the University of Pretoria’s Department of Zoology and Entomology at the Kwalata Lodge in the Dinokeng Reserve from 7-10 February. He participated in various field excursions and spent time interacting with the students and sharing his experiences as a young researcher. He also presented a talk titled “Applied chemical ecology: From a pest problem to a pheromone trap solution” that explained how you identify a pheromone and use this to trap pests. The camp was attended by 13 Zoology Honours and six postgraduate students along with academic staff from the Department of Zoology and Entomology.
