FABI Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Dr Janneke Aylward, visited the China Eucalypt Research Centre (CERC) in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province, China, from 24-27 September. She was hosted by prospective CERC-FABI Tree Protection Programme (CFTPP) PhD students GuoQing Li and QianLi Liu as well as Wang Wen, a CERC MSc student.

They visited the CERC experimental Eucalypt plantation containing several species of Eucalyptus and Corymbia trees. Various fungal diseases such as Teratosphaeria and Cryphonectria stem canker and leaf diseases caused by Quambalaria and species in the Teratosphaeriaceae and Mycosphaerellaceae are monitored in this region. The group also collected leaves showing symptoms of the gall wasp Leptocybe invasa for further study.
