Dr Henri Vanhanen visited FABI on 3 November 2017 as part of his training visit to Mozambique. Dr Vanhanen is a senior research scientist at the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke). At the institute, his research focuses on agroforestry/non-wood forest products, the production of edible fungi and the biology of endophytic fungi. Dr Vanhanen’s visit formed part of a research collaboration between FABI and Luke to determine the species diversity of wood rotting fungi in the genus Ganoderma from Finland and other countries in Europe. The research project is coordinated by Dr Riikka Linnakoski (previously a PhD student co-supervised by Prof. Wilhelm de Beer, FABI) together with Dr Martin Coetzee from FABI.
