MSc student Dennis Omondi from Maseno University in Kenya visited MPPI, a FABI research group in the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences, for a month’s training in fungal pathology and molecular biology under the tutelage of PhD student David Nsibo. Dennis learned the basics of single-spore isolation, fungal culturing and DNA analysis as part of the RSA-Kenya bilateral project between Prof. Dave Berger and Prof. Mathews Dida of Maseno University on the molecular breeding of resistance to grey leaf spot disease in maize.
