Earlier this year the need was identified for regular microscopy courses to assist and guide resident FABI students. Beginner and advanced courses are hosted alternatively every few months to ensure that students progress from learning the basics through to manipulating samples in order to obtain images of good quality. The advanced microscopy workshop hosted on May 6th, allowed students to bring samples of their choice in order to learn how to work with their own specimens in their areas of interest. As groups were kept to a small size, students received individual attention and were also free to use any of the three main microscopes available. The course was presented by the curator of the FABI culture collection, Dr Seonju Marincowitz and a PhD student, Angelica Marsberg.
