Research Interests
My research interests are the Ophiostomatoid fungi associated with bark beetles.

Currently I’m doing my MSc. forming part of the China-South Africa Research Project. The aim of my study is to identify and describe Ophiostomatoid fungi associated with bark beetles and weevils on conifers within the Yunnan and Jilin provinces of China. Descriptions involve the use of morphology characteristics and DNA sequences comparative analysis. The results contribute to the understanding of sapstain fungi and insect associated in the Chinese forest.

Other information
I undertook my undergraduate Agricultural Engineering studies in Colombia, South America. My thesis was undertaken at the Cenicafe (Colombian Coffee Crop Research Centre), testing Fungicide application methods for controlling Ceratocystis fimbriata on coffee trees. During 2002-2003 I privileged to be given the opportunity to be a Research assistant in CENICAFE, with the responsibility for the diagnosis of pest and diseases on native trees.
