Mr Eshchar Mizrachi
Research Staff
Research Interests
Current research:
- Investigating the underlying interactions between some of the proteins involved in secondary cell wall synthesis in plants.
- High throughput sequencing and de novo assembly of transcriptomes using Solexa technology (Illumina).
Qualifications:
BSc Zoology obtained in the University of Pretoria
Honours-level research project under the supervision of Prof H. Huismans in the field of molecular virology, with the aim of expressing a modified structural protein 7 of African Horsesickness virus as an eGFP fusion protein.
Masters level research project: “The solubility, particle formation and immune display of trimers of major capsid protein 7 of African horsesickness virus fused with enhanced green fluorescent protein”, under the supervision of Prof H. Huismans. The research was aimed at characterizing the properties of a candidate peptide presentation protein and evaluate its viability as a nano-scale subunit vaccine delivery vector.
General interests:
Synthetic Biology
Nanotechnology and its application to biomedical sciences
