Research Interests

I completed my BSc at the end of 2008 and my honours in 2009 in genetics at the University of Pretoria. My honours project involved an investigation into the life cycle and release of African horse sickness virus from the insect vector, the Culicoides midge. I am currently busy with my first year MSc at FABI, under supervision of Dr Noelani van den Berg in the Fruit Tree Biotechnology Programme. My project involves an investigation into tissue culture techniques of avocados as well as the characterization of certain defense-related genes.
