Research Interests

My research focuses largely on bacteriology. I collaborate with Prof Teresa Coutinho on the taxonomy, ecology and pathogenicity of Pantoea spp. responsible for diseases of Eucalyptus, onions and maize. We have recently described 4 new plant associated Pantoea spp. and a few more are to follow. We have also sequenced the full genome of twoPantoea ananatis strains and are at present involved in comparative studies to shed more light on the bacterium's mode of pathogenicity and ecology.
