Research Interests

My BSc (honours) project on studying disease progression of a novel Ralstonia solanacearum isolate in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana, using visual makers by applying molecular biotechnology techniques and various methods of evaluating bacterial wilt disease. Previous studies in the MPPI lab have shown this isolate to be highly virulent. Thus, it would be of great interest to study the mechanism of how this strain causes disease in Arabidopsis plants. After obtaining this knowledge we can use it to investigate disease progression mechanisms in economically important crops of South Africa.
