Research Interests
My research focuses primarily on fungi from the Ophiostomatales (Ascomycetes) and the smut-like Microstromatales (Basidiomycetes). Research topics include fungus-insect symbioses,
pathogenicity to plants and humans, bluestain and decay of timber, fungal taxonomy, phylogeny, population genetics, mating, and diagnostics. Species and species complexes from the genera
Ophiostoma, Sporothrix, Grosmannia, Leptographium, and
Quambalaria are included in my studies.
I coordinate all DNA sequence data generated for the above-mentioned fungal genera in FABI, as well as data originating from several international collaborations. In addition, I manage the
FABI research nursery and clone banks on the experimental farm of the university.
