Ms Tarren Seale
I started at UP in 2010 as an honours student under the supervision of Prof SN Venter to identify environmental E. coli strains from Rietvlei dam using the rpoS gene. I continued this work for my masters degree with the addition of Prof ET Steenkamp as co-supervisor and included additional sample locations (Leeukraal, Hartebeespoort, Klipvoor, Roodekoppies, Bon Accord, Roodeplaat and Buffelspoort dams) and genes (uidA, mutS and fadD). Currently I am a PhD student using genome comparisons to differentiate environmental E. coli strains from faecal strains.
I am the administrator in the Division of Microbiology and the teaching assistant for MBY 355 Bacterial Genetics.
