Mr Kristiann Labuschagne
Plant and Soil Sciences
The potential societal value that Biotechnology presents is what inspired me to complete both my BSc and BSc (Hons) Biotechnology at the University of Pretoria. I am an MSc Biotechnology student based in the Plant and Soil Sciences department under the supervision of Dr Eugene Makgopa. Our research group aims to study the relationship that protease inhibitors have with the tolerance of transgenic plants towards abiotic stresses such as drought and salt stress.
My Masters project will aim to characterise a serine protease inhibitor that was identified in maize and transformed into Arabidopsis thaliana.
