I am a Plant Health Diagnostic Technician at Grain SA and seconded to the Pest and Disease Diagnostic Clinic within the Grain Research Programme (GRP) at the University of Pretoria. My area of focus is the morphological and molecular diagnosis of diseased plant samples obtained from producers and the GRP extension service. I also provide support to research projects through the perseveration and generation of DNA sequence data of fungal isolates.

I completed a PhD in Botany at the University of Johannesburg and the Agricultural Research Council – Small Grain under the supervision of Dr Vicki Tolmay, Prof Eduard Venter and Dr Scott Sydenham. My PhD investigated the underlying genetic components involved in Russian wheat aphid resistance in wheat. I completed an MSc in Plant Pathology at the University of KwaZulu-Natal specialising in viral diseases affecting tomato plants.
