I joined FABI in 2014, while completing my BSc Honours degree in Genetics at the University of Pretoria. My Honours project introduced me to the Ceratocystidaceae, a family consisting of pathogenic and saprotrophic fungi. Under the supervision of Prof. Brenda Wingfield and Dr. Magriet van der Nest, I studied the evolutionary history of Invertase genes associated with pathogenicity. For my MSc I will continue to focus on this important group of Ascomycetes.
