Ms Catherine Tatham
Biochemistry, Genetics and Microbiology
|Magriet van der Nest|
I graduated with a BSc in Genetics with dual major subjects in Microbiology from the University of Pretoria in 2014. During the second and third years of my undergraduate degree I was part of the CTHB mentorship program. I registered for BSc (Hons) in Genetics at the beginning of 2015. For my honours research project I explored different mating strategies utilized by Ceratocystis eucalypticola, a member of the Ceratocystidaceae. Having completed my BSc (Hons) degree in December 2015, I have recently begun my MSc: Genetics under the supervision of Prof. Brenda Wingfield, Dr. Magriet van der Nest and Dr. Markus Wilken. The focus of my MSc will be the Eucalypt leaf pathogen Teratosphaeria destructans.
Outside of the lab, I spend my time pursuing a number of other passions, including writing for several online blogs, travelling and photography.
