I completed my BSc in Microbiology at the University of Pretoria and took part in the CTHB Mentorship programme in 2014 and 2015 under Dr Sonia Philips and Jennifer Wayland respectively.

My honours and now my masters work will be focused on the eucalypt pathogens that reside in the genus Quambalaria. In my honours I described two species for this genus. My masters will focus on the pathogenicity of these new species towards eucalypts and insects and the information which can be obtained through genome sequencing especially in the area of reproduction and lifestyle.

I also assist my supervisor, Prof ZW de Beer, in the work he is currently involved in with the Polyphagus Shot Hole Borer, especially in identifying the pathogen that the beetles carry on tree species from South Africa.
