I completed my BSc undergraduate degree in Human Genetics (2016) at the University of Pretoria, and then completed my honours degree in Microbiology in 2018. Between my undergraduate degree and honours, I had the privilege of doing an internship with the Department of Science and Technology/ National Research Foundation in 2017.
I joined the Avocado Research Programme and FABI in my honours year, and my Honours project was titled: Profiling the Polygalacturonase inhibitors in Persea americana in response to the pathogen Phytophthora cinnamomi, under the supervision of Noëlani van den Berg.
Currently, I’m completing my MSc in Microbiology in the Avocado Research Programme. My Masters project is titled: Genetic structure of the avocado germplasm in South Africa and the quantification of Fusarium euwallaceae; a cultivar threat.
