After completing my BSc. degree in Human Genetics (2018), I joined the Avocado research programme- ARP, where I completed my Honours degree under the supervision of Professor Noëlani van den Berg. My honours research was aimed at studying the Polyphagous Shot Hole Borer, PSHB (Euwallacea fornicatus)and its fungal symbionts, namely Fusarium euwallaceae and Graphium euwallaceae, recognised as the cause of Fusarium dieback on avocado.
I am currently enrolled for a Master's degree in Microbiology, also within the Avocado research programme, where my current research will be aimed at elucidating the fungal mutualists associated with Xylosandrus crassiusculus using Pacific Biosystems SMRT sequencing.
