My PhD research focuses on establishing the diversity of the seed-borne mycoflora associated with Eucalyptus spp. in South Africa. I will also investigate the efficiency of transmission of pathogenic seed-borne fungi into seedlings. Furthermore with the current focus on organic production of vegetable and tree seed across the globe, part of the study will focus on the search for alternative non-chemical agents to replace synthetic seed-dressing chemicals.
