FABian presents her research at SAAWK symposium

Luki-Marie Scheepers , a PhD candidate in FABI , was one of nine students from the University of Pretoria ’s Chemistry Department and one from the Department of Actuarial Science who participated in the annual SAAWK (Suid-Afrikaanse Akademie vir Wetenskap en Kunste) symposium on 3-4 November. The SAAWK aims to provide a forum for postgraduate students from multiple disciplines to present their research results in Afrikaans. The University of Pretoria was well represented and brought home a second place for an oral presentation (Mr Hendrik van der Poll), a third place poster presentation (Ms Bernice Currie). Luki-Marie won an Afrikaans spellchecker to celebrate the good use of her mother tongue in Afrikaans science communication.
