We love seeing FABI teamwork excellence! Earlier this month, a wonderful team of FABIans helped us inoculate around 1200 pine trees with Fusarium circinatum as part of a TPCP research trial for Sappi. This trial was conducted in order to better understand how F. circinatum-resistant pines might differ in terms of their chemical defence response when compared to susceptible pines. The trial will run for six weeks, after which we will collect stem tissue samples and use Gas Chromatography- (GC) and Liquid Chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS) to identify defensive terpenes and phenolics present in the samples. We want to thank everyone who took part in this process - your time and effort is greatly appreciated!
