The FABI Museum was inaugurated at an informal gathering on 19 July where Prof. Mike Wingfield, founding director of FABI also unveiled cabinets displaying many of the artefacts and items, mostly relating to fungi or tree pathogens, which  he collected and stored in his office over 20 years during his tenure as Director of FABI. A group of 30 FABIans gathered to hear Mike regale a few stories relating to some of the 50 exhibits years. Each item in the museum has a story associated with and this information accompanies the displays.  Mike made the point that some items were gifts from friends from around the globe that visited FABI; others date back to earlier times in his career. Many of these are eclectic and some linked to stories either true or apocryphal, of people or places encountered in various parts of the world. He encouraged  FABIans to spend some time looking at the displays and enjoy reading some of the stories associated with them and thus to be inspired to collect new items to be included in the museum in the future.
