FABI PhD candidate Phophi Nethononda visited smallholder farmers from Dzindi and Tshiombo irrigation schemes in Venda in the Limpopo province as part of her project. The project focus is on the knowledge, perception and management practices of the Fall army worm Spodoptera frugiperda, on maize. The visit aimed at recording observations and conducting interviews with farmers on the S. frugiperda management practices. The project is supervised by Prof. Brett Hurley, Prof. Bernard Slippers and Dr Makhura and is funded by Grain SA.
