FABI welcomed Dr Katelyn Faulkner as a guest speaker at the Monday Morning Meeting of 16 October. Her presentation “Understanding introduction pathways to inform invasive species management and policy” illustrated the pathways of invasive species and the impact these are having on South Africa and the region. Katelyn is a senior scientist at SANBI and an extraordinary lecturer in the Department of Zoology and Entomology at the University of Pretoria. Her work focuses on pathways of introduction of alien species (how, where, when, what can be done?), and she is part of the team that produces the South African National Status Report on Biological Invasions.
