FABI strives to expose its students to research activities of collaborators as well as to cutting edge research and the latest industry trends. This week’s guest speaker at MMM was Bayer’s Head of Corn Breeding, Africa, Dr Ricarda Miller whose talk “A world of corn” gave insight into the activities of Bayer globally to bring the latest technology to the farmer. Dr Miller presented on Bayer’s agricultural research activities and their research and development activities on the African continent. She also gave students some good advice on career progression citing her own journey from a PhD in Chemistry to now being a senior manager in Bayer’s plant breeding programmes.
