Edgar L. Doctorow, a famous American writer, once said “Writing is an exploration. You start from nothing and learn as you go”. Most of us get the first part right, starting with nothing. Unfortunately, many of us get stuck there for a little too long. In an effort to nudge a few people in the right direction, PhD candidate Andi Wilson has started a writing club in FABI

The Writing Club @ FABI has morning sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday, and an afternoon session on Thursdays. The aim of these sessions is to put aside an hour and a half, sit down and simply write. Whether it’s a manuscript, a thesis chapter or a conference abstract you’re working on; the only rules are to get there on time and spend the full session writing!

After all, “Writing means sharing. It’s part of the human condition to want to share things- thoughts, ideas, opinions.” – Paulo Coelho.

The group currently has 27 members and would love to have more FABIans join! Contact Andi on andi.wilson@fabi.up.ac.za for more information.
