Earlier this year a new disease of Acacia mearnsii (black wattle) was reported to the TPCP by farmers in the KZN Midlands. This disease causes significant damage to trees. At present a research project is undertaken by the TPCP, ICFR and NCT to identify the causal agent and find solutions for the management of the problem. We, however, need as much information as possible on the distribution and impact of the disease and would appreciate all your help.

If you think you have the disease on your farm or in your plantations, please contact myself (jolanda.roux@fabi.up.ac.za) or our diagnostic clinic. Attached is a PDF with photos and more information on the disease.
