Professor Martin Coetzee attended the 87th Meeting of the Mycological Society of America (MSA) from 10-14 August in Minneapolis, USA. The meeting was attended by many distinguished mycologists, mostly from the USA but also from other parts of the world. The theme for the meeting was “Diversity in all dimensions” and included sessions that dealt with systematics and biodiversity, food and industrial mycology, ecology, conservation and climate change, molecular genetics and functional genomics, evolution, and interactions with other organisms, to name but a few. Martin presented a talk entitled “Multilocus phylogenies and morphological analyses revealed new and previously described Ganoderma species in South Africa”. Attending the meeting provided Martin with the opportunity to meet and strengthen ties with colleagues and friends conducting research in mycology.
