In anticipation of the Tree Protection Co-operative Programme (TPCP) and DSI-NRF Centre of Excellence in Plant Health Biotechnology (CPHB) meeting on Tuesday 12 May, various members of the TPCP Management Committee joined FABI and TPCP Director Prof. Bernard Slippers for an online Zoom meeting to test the system.  The TPCP meeting is being held, as always, during the second week in May 2020.  But due the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and associated “lockdown” in South Africa, the meeting will take place (for the first time and historically) using virtual platforms. Because various participants are restricted to different platforms, this meeting will be ‘broadcast’ concurrently using ZOOM and Microsoft TEAMS.  Invitations have been sent to all stakeholders of these research programmes, both in South Africa and internationally.  This has resulted in an expected attendance of approximately double the number (usually 150) participants in the meeting.  Colleagues from China and Australia to Colombia and the United States of America  (amongst other countries) are likely to join. While the meeting will be rather different to those of the past, covering three days and including a much anticipated field trip, the meeting this year will be truly international in nature.  We look forward to seeing many friends, even though this can be only via a computer screen.  The TPCP MANCOM captured a ‘group photo’ of the attendees of today’s meeting using a screenshot and this image illustrates this news item.
