In 2022 I completed my undergraduate degree in Biotechnology with a focus on plant genetics at the University of Pretoria. Thereafter I began with an honours under the supervision of Prof. Zander Myburg. My work focused on the genotyping of South African macadamia cultivars as well as the development of DNA fingerprinting tools for use in the industry. Parentage analysis, clonal analysis and diversity analysis were all topics that fell within the scope of the work.

I have subsequently taken up a position within FMG as an intern, with my work again having a strong focus on the Macadamia industry. This year will be spent refining the macadamia microsatellite panel, helping to develop protocols for kernel and pollen genotyping, phenotype studies, and developing relationships with industry partners.

I am passionate about agriculture and find it exciting to be doing work with real-world implications. For more information, please feel free to contact me.
