Two Postdoctoral Research Fellowship opportunities: CryptoADAPT Project
The Wellcome Trust has recently funded a new project titled ‘CryptoADAPT: Cryptococcus adaptation to causing human disease in Africa through pathogen thermotolerance’. This project will combine ecology, experimental evolution, genomics and fungal biology to better understand how Cryptococcus evolve in natural African biodiversity hotspots to become human pathogens.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow Opportunity: Genetic Basis of Sexuality in Fusarium
Join our international research team studying the genetic mechanisms behind male, female, and hermaphrodite sexual identities in Fusarium species. Fusarium includes globally-significant plant pathogens and emerging human pathogens. Climate change is broadening its range and increasing mycotoxin risks, making this research both urgent and impactful.

One-year internships in Phytosanitation and Biosecurity
The FABI Internship Programme in Phytosanitation and Biosecurity, is designed to expand the depth and breadth of the interns’ previous academic learning in the plant health domain. The Programme draws from the expertise of multiple stakeholders and the training is coordinated with the needs of relevant industries, organizations and government. Our vision is that this Programme prepares interns for careers in the forestry and agricultural sectors. Interns will be trained to provide technical support to improve the updating of outdated import requirements; assist with a higher turnover of completed pest risk information packages and pest risk assessments, as well as to contribute to pest and disease diagnostic and extension, surveillance and biological control programs.
Applications are now open for the appointment of interns, starting 1 February 2026. The closing date for applications is 31 August 2025.
