I am currently completing my masters degree in Microbiology within the Hans Merensky chair in Avocado Research group. My thesis is focused on determining if callose production plays a key role in avocado defence against the oomycete root pathogen Phytophthora cinnamomi.
My honours research (2022) was conducted within the same group which involved assessing virulence of different P. cinnamomi genotypes from South African avocado orchards.
