I hold a Master of Science degree in Entomology, as well as a Bachelor of Science Honours and a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, all from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. These qualifications provided me with a strong foundation in insect ecology, pest management, and biological sciences.

My professional experience includes work in insect rearing, molecular genetics, and pest diagnostics, with a focus on both agricultural and forestry pests such as the fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda), maize stalk borer (Busseola fusca) and Gonipterus sp. I have been involved in both laboratory and field-based projects, gaining skills in research, data collection, and pest control strategies.

I am currently pursuing my PhD in Entomology and my research focuses on the potential of pheromone-based mating disruption as a sustainable strategy to manage S. frugiperda populations in South Africa, with the aim of contributing to environmentally friendly pest management and improved food security.
