I am currently pursuing my Honours in Genetics in the Department of Microbiology, Genetics and Biochemistry. I am part of the FABI Avocado Research Programme and my supervisors are Prof. Noëlani van den Berg and Dr. Velushka Swart. Additionally, I am co-supervised by Dr. Magriet van der Nest and Dr. Markus Wilken. My research project is focused on characterising the mating-type genes of Dematophora necatrix and to uncover what the mating strategy of this avocado-infecting pathogen is.
