I completed my BSc in Human Genetics in 2020 and then completed a BScHons in Genetics in 2021. My honours project was a metagenomic study that investigated the possible bacterial taxa responsible for ecosystem servicing and stress response in extremophilic microbial communities called hypolithons.
I worked in Industry from 2022 to 2026 (Sanger Sequencing) where I gained experience in Sanger Sequence quality analysis, troubleshooting, and received training in Laboratory activities including DNA extraction and PCR.
While working in Industry, I also completed my MSc in Microbiology (from 2024 to 2025) with distinction. This project was a metatranscriptomic study that investigated the shifts of taxonomic activity, as well as the up- downregulation of genes, in response to the addition of water.
I am now pursuing a PhD in Bioinformatics, in which I will be investigating the genes associated with resistance to pests, pathogens, and weather conditions that negatively affect timber production.
