I completed my Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology (Plant Genetics) in 2024, followed by a BSc Honours in Plant Science (Biotechnology) with distinction in 2025 at the University of Pretoria.
My Honours research project was under the supervision of Prof. Dave Berger and mentored by Jana Botes, titled "Validation of the putative LDOX mutation associated with the white-flowered Greyia radlkoferi phenotype". My project focused on investigating the genetic basis of flower colour variation using molecular and bioinformatics approaches.
I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Biotechnology in the Molecular Plant-Pathogen Interactions (MPPI) group at the University of Pretoria under the supervision of Prof. Dave Berger and co-supervision of Prof. Tuan Duong. My research focuses on the computational identification and characterisation of putative antimicrobial effector proteins in Cercospora zeina and related Cercospora species through secretome analysis, structural prediction, and transcriptome-based expression profiling. This work aims to improve our understanding of fungal pathogenicity and identify candidate proteins with potential applications in plant disease management.
