Ms Bianca Hough
Biochemistry, Genetics and Microbiology
I started my academic journey in 2018 when I enrolled for a BSc degree in microbiology and biochemistry at the University of Pretoria. In 2020 I completed my degree and at present, I am doing my BScHons in microbiology under the supervision of Dr. David Read and professor Brenda Wingfield.
My current research project focuses on the identification and characterization of mycoviruses associated with plant pathogenic fungi in the genera Fusarium, Huntiella, and Ceratocystis. Following the bioinformatics part of this project, RT-PCR assays will be designed that can be applied to closely related isolates from the FABI CMW culture collection.
