Ever since I was young (which I argue I no longer am), I have been fascinated by genetics and how this universal code for life shapes and changes the living world around us. I graduated with a degree in Genetics and Biochemistry from the University of Pretoria in 2020. Following this, I have been honoured with acceptance into the Genetics honours program for 2021.

My research focuses on the circadian rhythms in the fungal genus Chrysoporthe. Specifically, I aim to identify and characterise the evolution of circadian clock genes within this genus via phylogentic analysis. I hope that this research can lay the groundwork for further studies into how these rhythms may influence pathogen development and virulence.
