I started with my studies in 2013 at Stellenbosch University, where I completed my undergraduate degree in BSc Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. In 2018 I completed my BSc (Honours) degree in Plant Pathology. The study of my BSc (Honours) project, aimed to provide information on Fusarium-incarnatum-equiseti species complex (FIESC) occurrence, genetic relatedness, and associated mycotoxigenic potential. I started with my master’s degree in 2019 within the Fusarium Research group in the Department of Plant Pathology also at Stellenbosch University. This study entitled, The Evaluation of foliar fungicides for the control of mycotoxigenic fungi associated with Fusarium head blight, focussed on wheat in South Africa. The overall aim of the proposed project was to provide tools and data-driven information that would improve the management of Fusarium head blight of wheat under South African conditions. I am currently registered as a Ph.D. student at the University of Pretoria under the supervision of Prof. Cobus Visagie and Dr. Neriman Yilmaz-Visagie. This study of my Ph.D. is entitled- The effect of interacting abiotic conditions on mycotoxin production by fungal communities.
