FABI at Fungal Genetics 2026 2026-04-14
Researchers from FABI recently participated in the 33rd Annual Fungal Genetics Conference, held at the picturesque Asilomar Conference Centre in Monterey, California. The delegation included Dr Markus Wilken and Dr Neriman Yilmaz, postdoctoral researcher Dr Nam Pham, and PhD students Callin Ceriani and Chanel Thomas.
The conference provided a valuable opportunity to meet with colleagues from the global fungal genetics community, showcase current research, and foster new connections. Conference attendees presented their work across diverse areas of fungal biology, contributing to discussions on genome evolution, pathogenicity, and emerging analytical approaches in the field.
In addition to the main conference, Neriman Yilmaz and Nam Pham took part in pre-conference meetings such as the Fusarium workshop and CIFAR meeting, offering opportunities for in-depth engagement with specialised research topics.
Participation in this meeting highlights FABI’s continued commitment to advancing fungal genetics research and maintaining strong international collaborations despite emerging geopolitical and policy-related challenges to global scientific exchange. The experience not only enabled the sharing of new findings but also provided inspiration and direction for ongoing and future research projects.
