FABIans gathered on 16 April at the University of Pretoria’s LC de Villiers Sports Campus for another enjoyable Jackie Robinson Day celebration. What started at FABI in 2023 has grown into a valued annual tradition, bringing people together through baseball, good food and great company.

On 15 April 1947, Jackie Robinson made his Major League Baseball debut for the Brooklyn Dodgers, becoming the first Black player in the modern era of the league and helping to end nearly 80 years of baseball segregation. The day celebrates progress towards equality, honours courage, and reminds us of the importance of inclusion - values that are deeply important at FABI.

This year’s event was once again generously sponsored by Prof. Anne Pringle and David Johnson. Taygen and Cobus took charge of the BBQ, keeping the hotdogs coming, while Kaliwe, Mpho, Melandré, Chanel, Christiaan, and Neriman handled the arrangements. Morné captured the occasion in photos, and with the Social Club team adding their usual magic, the afternoon became another memorable FABI gathering.
