I am the Scientific Officer of the ACGT Microarray Facility and co-manage the Ion Torrent Sequencing Facility.
My PhD studies in Bioinformatics involve the assembly and annotation of the genome sequence of the dothideomycete fungus Cercospora zeina. This fungus causes grey leaf spot in maize in South Africa. I plan to use bioinformatics analysis of the annotated genome sequence to test hypotheses about the structure and evolution of genomic regions involved in pathogenicity.
