I was in the second year of my BSc: Genetics and Biochemistry degree when the opportunity to become part of the CTHB Mentorship Program arose. I joined FABI in 2018 as a mentorship student. During my two years in the program, I was mentored by Dr Markus Wilken and Ms Frances Lane. I love a challenge and Genetics was my favourite subject in my undergraduate degree. I am fascinated by the concept of gene control and its relevance to so many things that surround us.
Currently, I am completing my Msc degree in Genetics and the goal of my project is to functionally characterize the laccase gene of Leptographium wageneri, using CRISPER/CAS9 gene editing technology.
